After the successful 1rst International Friendship Veterans Fencing Tournament held in 2008, the Organizing Committee is organizing the 2nd Tournament in April 2009. We are committed to make these Friendship Veterans Fencing Tournaments in Curacao (the first of its kind in the Caribbean) one of the most attractive annual events in the world of veteran fencing .
With the support from the Pan American and the Central American & Caribbean Fencing Confederations, the Foundation for the Future of Fencing and the SEDREKO Foundation the participants at the 2008 Coupe Curacao had a wonderful time.
The tournament is an open tournament, but this time we have received once more commitments from world class veteran fencers who will come to Curacao, some to defend their cup title obtained in 2008, others to show their skills, their elegance and their speed.
The Coupe Curacao 2009 will have veteran fencing on 3 weapons: Foil, Epée and Sabre. Each is contested by men and women. Apart from the 50-59, 60+ age categorie this second tournament in 2009 will have also a 40-49 age category.
Fencing will take place this time in the centrally located sports / auditorium of the International School of Curacao in Emmastad.
Social events will not only concentrate in the World Heritage City of Willemstad but also on the unique natural surroundings of the island of Curacao (beaches, parks, neighborhoods).
